Aiming to bring together Turkey’s leading galleries, artists, institutions and organizations with art lovers in Istanbul, the preview of the 15th Contemporary Istanbul (CI) took place.
The preview of the international contemporary art fair, which will be held for the 15th time this year under the main sponsorship of Akbank, was made with the participation of artists, collectors, businessmen, journalists and many guests.
At the fair hosted by Contemporary Istanbul Chairman of the Board Ali Güreli, he chatted with art lovers, collectors and gallerists and bought some of the works.
There are 26 contemporary art works from Turkey
Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA) at the preview event of the fair, which took place at the Lütfi Kırdar Convention and Exhibition Center, Rumeli Halls, Güreli said that he was happy to have come to these days after 15 months of silence.
Stating that they are primarily a platform for Turkish contemporary art, Güreli stated that this edition includes 26 contemporary art galleries from Turkey.
Stating that the 16th Contemporary Istanbul, attended by galleries from all over the world, will take place in September, Güreli said, “We will take our place in the magnificent 9 thousand square meter historical building of Shipyard Istanbul on the Golden Horn. We announced it to galleries abroad and it has already attracted a lot of attention.” he said.
While the participants had the opportunity to closely examine the examples of contemporary art by visiting the stands one by one, they received information about the works from gallery officials and artists.
It will continue with the “General Visitor” program between 3-5 June
Contemporary Istanbul Foundation (CIF), Akbank Art, Baksı Museum, Borusan Contemporary, Odun Pazarı Modern Museum (OMM) and Otonom Art Events are also participating in this edition of Contemporary Istanbul.
Contemporary art performances, solo exhibitions and “Artists’ Day” events were held with the participation of artists whose works were exhibited by the galleries, at the fair where the visitors were taken to the hall following the epidemic measures and after the necessary controls.

The fair, which has the “VIP Preview” today and tomorrow, will continue with the “General Visitor” program between 3-5 June.
