Istanbul Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) will witness the impossible love between the brave commander Radames and the imprisoned Abyssinian Princess Aida.
Aida opera, featuring artists from Ankara, Antalya and Istanbul State Opera and Ballet directorates, will meet with art lovers from Istanbul on Sunday, November 7 and Monday, November 8 at 20:00. All tickets for AKM’s 2,40-seat opera house were sold out days before the performance.
Known as the “most beautiful opera” of the Italian composer Verdi, the work is about the impossible love between Radames, the brave commander of Egypt, and Aida, the captive Abyssinian Princess.
In the work, which fascinates the audience with its magnificent decorations and costumes, General Manager of the State Opera and Ballet (DOB) tenor Murat Karahan will give voice to Radames, while Ankara State Opera and Ballet Artistic Director Feryal Türkoğlu will give voice to Aida.
Other roles will include Ezgi Karakaya, Eralp Kıyıcı and Tuncay Kurtoğlu, as well as ballet artists from Ankara State Opera and Ballet.
In Aida, staged by Italian director Vincenzo Grisostomi Travaglini, conductor Can Okan will conduct the orchestra.
The decor is designed by Özgür Usta, the costumes are designed by Savaş Camgöz and Gürcan Kubilay, the lighting is designed by Giovanni Pirendello, and the choreography is by Sergei Terechenko.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), DOB General Manager Karahan said that as opera singers, they are happy to have one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world with its acoustics, technology and architecture.
Expressing that AKM can enter the top 10 opera houses in the world, Karahan emphasized that they are very proud of this.
Reminding that AKM was opened with the Sinan opera commissioned by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Karahan said, “Now we have the Aida opera. Our tickets are sold out days ago. This makes us happy. We were very touched by the kindness of our people and the fact that they missed it so much. It is a great pleasure. And we look forward to meeting our people with excitement.” said.
Stating that the performances at AKM will continue, Karahan said, “This beautiful hall is our home from now on. High quality opera and ballet performances will come one after the other, befitting the magnificence and beauty of AKM. Let our audience wait for us.” he said.
