‘Full closure’ reduced traffic congestion in Istanbul

In Istanbul, the traffic density in the city has decreased significantly with the effect of the “complete closure” implemented within the scope of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic measures.

The application, which started at 19:00 on Thursday, April 29, in 81 provinces across Turkey, will continue until 05:00 on Monday, May 17.

In the city, on the first business day of the week, only those who are exempt from the restrictions go to traffic with their vehicles, while a decrease in the traffic density on all main arteries is also observed.

Density is observed at the Anatolian-European crossings of the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge due to the inspections made within the scope of curfew.

According to IMM’s mobile application, the traffic density was measured as 18 percent as of 08:00.
