President Erdoğan discusses Israel’s attacks on Palestine with Pope Francis

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a phone call with Pope Francis. Israel’s attacks on Palestine were discussed at the meeting.

According to the statement made by the Presidential Directorate of Communications, Erdogan stated at the meeting that there was a brutality in Palestine and that the target of Israel’s attacks was not only Palestinians, but all Muslims, Christians and humanity.

Emphasizing that the occupying Israel, which blocks access to the Masjid al-Aqsa and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, restricts the freedom of worship, and kills innocent civilians in the Palestinian lands, violates the human dignity, Erdogan said that this savagery, which Israel is responsible for, also threatens regional security.

President Erdoğan stated that Israel’s unlawful and inhumane practices that also violate the status of Jerusalem should be terminated as soon as possible, and that all humanity should be united in the face of the invading Israel, which does not see any harm in attacking the saints.

“The Security Council could not display the necessary sense of responsibility”

Emphasizing that the international community should give Israel the deterrent reaction and lesson it deserves and take concrete steps in this direction, Erdogan said that as Turkey, they have concentrated all their efforts to this point, they have carried out an intense diplomatic activity in all relevant international platforms, especially the United Nations, but the Security Council said, expressed that he could not display the necessary sense of responsibility.

Noting that the Palestinians will continue to be massacred as long as the international community does not punish Israel, which has committed a crime against humanity, with the necessary sanctions, Erdogan emphasized that the messages and reactions that Pope Francis will continue to give on this issue are of great importance in terms of mobilizing the Christian world and the international community.
