The future of exports in the defense industry is very bright

Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir stated that the desired figures in defense industry exports have not been reached yet, and to be honest, we are far below the level we desire and want for exports. Export is a must in sustainable industry, but we see that the future is very bright in this regard. “Hopefully, our goals will grow exponentially,” he said.

The Industry Fair, which will reveal Turkey’s domestic and national power in the aviation, defense and machinery industry, was opened in Eskişehir. 105 companies from 22 countries took part in the fair, which will be open between 9-12 June at Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce TÜYAP Fair Center. President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. In addition to İsmail Demir, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Hasan Büyükde, Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız, Eskişehir Chamber of Industry President Celalettin Kesikbaş, Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce President Metin Güler, Organized Industrial Zone President Nadir Küpeli, TÜYAP Anatolian Fairs General Manager İlhan Ersözlü attended. .

Speaking at the opening, Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said that Eskişehir is a city with real industrial awareness. Stating that the fair is an important organization where industrialists will get to know each other, Demir said, It is not possible to talk about an advanced defense industry if you do not have a mature and competent industry, R&D and technology infrastructure. The reason why we participated in this industry fair, as the defense industry, with a very wide participation, is that Eskişehir is also an exceptional place in the defense industry.

I remember when I was a secondary school student in the 1970s, when I watched F-104 squadrons fly to join the Cyprus Peace Operation from my window. On that occasion, I remember a love of aviation engineering, the visit of the first aviation club we founded in high school to Air Supply, and the days when asked about the place where people work in our environment, they were addressed as either the State Railways Factory or Air Supply. Eskişehir is the right address for this business. We hope that these activities will continue. We see such fairs as a process where our industrialists come together, get to know each other, spread over a wider area, create a sustainable technology industry infrastructure, which will ultimately contribute to the strong development of the defense industry.

“We have serious efforts to make Eskişehir a production center”

Hasan Büyükdede, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, said that Eskişehir is a city that is the center of the railway sector. Explaining that the important factories of the defense industry are located in Eskişehir, Deputy Minister Büyükdede said, Our aircraft maintenance center serving the defense industry and aircraft industry is here. Many of our companies that make parts for the aircraft industry and defense industry are here. We have a very important organized industrial zone. We are trying to develop partners day by day.

We believe it will grow even more. At the same time, this is a white goods production center. It is also the center of automotive with its automotive and engine factory. Its proximity to Bursa, in its immediate vicinity, and its close proximity to the main automotive industries makes this place of particular importance.

Not only them, but also the center of the brick and ceramics industry. Therefore, we evaluate Eskişehir in a very different structure. “We have a serious effort to make this a railway test center and a production center related to railways with the involvement of TÜLOMSAŞ and URAYSİM,” he said.

105 companies from 22 countries participate

İlhan Ersözlü, General Manager of TÜYAP Anatolian Fairs, stated that 105 companies from 22 countries participated in the fair and said:

We are preparing it for the first time in Eskişehir. 105 companies and company representatives from 22 countries are participating in this fair, which is prepared on R&D industry and technology. Indeed, we have made a great effort, but we are grateful to be rewarded for our efforts.

Hopefully, our companies participating here for 4 days will meet with local and foreign businessmen. More than 250 bilateral business meetings will be held in this field at the fair. The important companies of the sector on defense industry, aviation and manufacturing technologies will meet with the visitors at the fair.

After the opening speeches, President of Defense Industry İsmail Demir and Deputy Minister Büyükdede and their accompanying people cut the opening ribbon of the fair and toured the stands.

“The data after the fair will be very important”

Visiting the Turkish Aerospace Industry stand, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said that the desired export figures in the defense industry have not been reached yet, but the future is very bright. Speaking to reporters, Prof. Dr. Demir, The important part of the fair is to get results. We think that this fair will pave the way for the industry sector to come together, to make business connections in various business areas, and more importantly, to get to know each other in the direction of localization and the development of national technology, and to open up new areas of cooperation.

The fair is important, but the data after the fair will be important for us. How much cooperation has it developed? Which products did we make a layout plan?

We will be satisfied with the positive results we will get on subjects such as Eskişehir, which we think is a great infrastructure for the Defense Industry, and to what extent has it carried this contribution.

We made an initiative, we entered into the intention, we are in the field, but the important thing is that we expect the participants here to contact each other, get to know each other, and gain momentum from here. We are at the beginning of the road for export. Our export figures are very small compared to other countries, these are just the beginning.

We think that as our products are known, known, and their performance is seen, they will increase even more. To be honest, we are far below the level we desire and want for exports.

Export is indispensable in sustainable industry, but we see that the future is very bright in this regard. Hopefully, our goals will grow exponentially,” he said.
