US prevents UNSC from making joint statement on Israeli-Palestinian crisis again

The May term chairman of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), and Norway and Tunisia, an interim member, made a new attempt to take a joint step after the council’s third meeting yesterday.

The council wanted to make a joint statement calling for the escalation of tension between Israel and Palestine, Israeli air strikes on Gaza, civilian casualties and evacuation of Palestinian families from their homes.

According to the information obtained from diplomatic sources, the USA prevented the council from taking a step in this direction again.

US officials argue that the joint statement to be made by the UNSC will not help to solve the current crisis and state that they are continuing “intense diplomatic efforts” to solve the crisis.
