Turkish space traveler to be sent in the second half of 2023

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said that the Turkish space traveler to be selected is planned to be sent to the International Space Station in the second half of 2023.

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank answered CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer’s questions about the studies carried out within the scope of the National Space Program and when the manned trip to the Moon will take place.

Stating that TÜBİTAK has provided 40.9 million TL support to 169 people in the field of space sciences in the last 20 years, within the framework of support programs for scientists, Minister Varank stated that 31 projects in the field of space studies have been supported at the level of 30.2 million TL.

Minister Varank stated that the project feasibility and budgeting activities for the projects developed by the Turkish Space Agency within the scope of the National Space Program have been completed and that the ‘Moon Research Program’ and ‘Turkish Astronaut and Science Mission projects are continuing.

Recalling the ‘National Space Program Strategy Document’ presented in the Presidential Circular of 2022, Minister Varank said, “There is no manned access to the Moon between 2022 and 2030.
