The first Engine Integration Test of Bayraktar KIZILELMA, Turkey’s first unmanned fighter aircraft developed nationally and originally by Baykar, has been successfully completed.
A critical threshold has been passed in the development process of Bayraktar KIZILELMA, which was developed nationally and originally by Baykar and will serve as the first unmanned warplane of our country. The first Engine Integration Test with Bayraktar KIZILELMA’s first prototype was successfully completed.
SELÇUK BAYRAKTAR DIRECTED
Baykar Technology Leader Selçuk Bayraktar directed the test at the test area at Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center. Bayraktar KIZILELMA is one step closer to its first flight with the Engine Integration Test, which was successfully carried out on September 17, 2022.
SIMILAR PROCESS WITH AKINCI
A similar process took place in Bayraktar AKINCI TİHA, which was developed nationally and originally by Baykar within the scope of the “Akıncı” project carried out under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industries. Having completed its first engine integration test on September 1, 2019, AKINCI successfully performed its first flight on December 6, 2019. AKINCI entered the inventory on 29 August 2021, approximately 1.5 years after its first flight.
FIRST FLIGHT IN 2023
Baykar’s Deep Technology accumulation and experience of Baykar will continue with the test process of the Bayraktar Kızılelma Unmanned Fighter Aircraft project. Bayraktar Kızılelma’s first flight is aimed to be realized in 2023.
LANDING AND TAKING off SHIPS WITH SHORT-RUNWAYS
Bayraktar KIZILELMA will be a platform that will revolutionize the battlefield with its landing and take-off capability, especially for ships with short runways. Bayraktar KIZILELMA, which has been developed to have the ability to land and take off on short-runway ships such as the TCG Anadolu ship, which Turkey has built and is currently conducting cruise tests, will play an important role in overseas missions thanks to this capability. With this ability, it will take an active role in the protection of the Blue Homeland.
AIR COMBAT WITH AGGRESSIVE MANEUVERS
Unlike unmanned aerial vehicles, Bayraktar KIZILELMA, which can perform air-air combat like manned warplanes with aggressive maneuvers, will change the balance on the battlefield with this feature. The unmanned fighter aircraft, which is being developed by Turkish engineers and technicians with the experience gained from Bayraktar TB2 and Bayraktar AKINCI, will also provide effectiveness against air targets with domestic air-air munitions.
LOW RADAR VISIBILITY
Bayraktar KIZILELMA, which will successfully perform the most challenging tasks thanks to the low radar trace it will obtain from its design, is aimed to have a take-off weight of 6 tons. The unmanned fighter aircraft, which will use all nationally developed ammunition, will be a great power multiplier with a planned 1500 kilogram payload capacity. The unmanned fighter aircraft will also have high situational awareness with the AESA radar to be integrated.
