Yıldız Technical University (YTU), Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and Marmara University cooperated in order to carry out joint R&D activities in the field of “biotechnology”, which is strategically important for the Turkish economy.
According to the statement made by YTU, the signing ceremony for academic cooperation was held by YTU Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz, Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Rector Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydın and Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. It was held in Yıldız Technical University Davutpaşa campus with the participation of Erol Özvar.
Within the scope of the cooperation, joint R & D activities will be carried out in areas such as artificial intelligence technologies, tissue engineering, human and animal molecular biology and genetics with the participation of expert faculty members of each 3 universities. A common structure will be created in which the knowledge and potential of competent faculty members in the field of “biotechnology” are used. Thus, it is aimed to ensure the unity of R&D and application in the academic field and to realize the university-industry cooperation systematically.
According to the protocol, diagnostic treatment and translational medicine, virology and microbiology, material production, tissue engineering and cell culture, bioinformatics, human and animal molecular biology and genetics, biomedical device, medical robotic systems and artificial intelligence technologies, opto-mechatronics and imaging technologies. It is aimed to establish and develop academic cooperation.
In addition, joint studies will be carried out to strengthen university-industry cooperation and internship opportunities will be provided to support the professional development of university students.

YTU Rector Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz stated that, with globalization, the world has become a giant market and the concepts of technology and information are increasing in importance.
Stating that companies have started to allocate a significant part of their investments to information and technology, Yılmaz noted that with the transition to an information society, the industry can reach qualified information that will make a difference, with the development and strengthening of university-industry relations.
Yılmaz stated that they are an R&D university and that they stand out in 4 areas: biotechnology, clean energy, defense technology and digital technologies, and pointed out the importance of universities’ cooperation during their R&D studies.
Emphasizing that the cooperation in R&D will highlight the parties, Yılmaz made the following evaluations:
“In this context, I believe that universities will come to the forefront in the transfer of technology and knowledge in the next period and will become important actors of national development. As YTU, we aim to be actively involved in this process with the collaborations we have realized in both the private sector and the public sector. Today, our university is very respected. 3 very deep-rooted universities that fill the very important gaps of both Istanbul and Turkey in this ecosystem and produce very valuable products came together. We want to present the inventions to be developed by conducting R&D studies in the field of biotechnology to the service of our industry. “

Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Rector Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydın also stated that the fields of competence of each university are different from each other and said, “At this point, I believe that we will move forward in both health and biotechnology together with university-industry cooperation.” used the expression.

Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar emphasized that it is not possible for universities to be competitive in every field in today’s world and made the following evaluations:
