Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy made a statement to the journalists in Şanlıurfa, where he came with Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank to promote the “Mesopotamia” brand within the scope of the GAP Region Tourism Promotion and Branding Project.

Expressing his pleasure to be in the city, Ersoy stated that they are making efforts to better understand Turkey’s tourism value and potential.

Reminding that they established the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency in 2019, Ersoy said, “The main job of the agency is to introduce all the tourism values of Turkey to the world. Our main goal with the agency is to spread tourism to our 81 provinces in Turkey by 2023.

There is tourism potential in every part of Turkey. With the right promotion, we need to reveal this potential and spread it by providing awareness. ‘ he said.

“Göbeklitepe will become a very popular place in the world”

Stating that they discovered some more important centers around Göbeklitepe, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Ersoy continued as follows:

“Actually, Göbeklitepe is no longer limited to Göbeklitepe. We have 11 more point hills on a 100-kilometer line around Göbeklitepe. We will have given the details here for the first time and we will now call it 12 hills. There is a big study on 12 hills, to be completed, in September we’ll be promoting.

We will present the 12 hills as a world launch in cooperation with many universities of the world and the heads of excavations specializing in archeology. It will become a very popular place in the world, we can even call it the Pyramids of the Southeast. We think it is a unique treasure of Turkey, which will make a lot of noise after its launch.

When you look at Mesopotamia, this region has a unique culture. It has its own registered gastronomy. It has many products. And when you combine that with its unique archaeological value, something wonderful comes out.”

Minister Ersoy emphasized that the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency works in coordination with the development agencies in the regions and explained that they also cooperate with municipalities across the country at the point of promotion.
