President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir stated that the export target of the Turkish Defense and Aviation Industry sector for 2023 is 6 billion dollars.
prof. Dr. Demir said in his statement, “Depending on the natural situation for 2023 exports, we have easily set our sights on 6 billion dollars. There may be a number above it. We’ll look at the trend. Maybe after the first quarter, we can become a little clearer. Because the signatures become clear accordingly. At the moment, a target of 6 billion dollars seems very comfortable to us. It could be much higher,” he said.
Defense Industry Exports in 2022: 4.3 Billion Dollars
In the news in Savunma SanayiST; The Turkish defense and aerospace industry sector, which broke the record of all time by exporting 3.2 billion dollars in 2021, broke a new record in 2022. The sector’s exports in 2022 were announced to be 4.3 billion dollars with an increase of 36.9% compared to the previous year. The target of 6 billion dollars set for 2023 corresponds to an increase of approximately 50% compared to 2022.
The defense industry company that made the most exports in 2022 was BAYKAR with an export of 1.18 billion dollars. BAYKAR; TUSAŞ, PRATT&WHITNEY THY TEK., TUSAŞ MOTOR SANAYİ, and BMC followed suit.
Increase in Exports Per Kilogram
The sector’s exports per kilogram ($/kg), which was 48.4 dollars in 2021, increased to 57.5 dollars in 2022. The defense and aerospace sector stands out as the sector with the highest export value per kilogram. (Except the jewelry industry.)

By 2022, the annual exports of the defense industry sector exceeded 4 billion dollars for the first time. In the export sector; Countries such as Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Philippines, Poland, Pakistan, Rwanda, India, Burkina Faso, and Azerbaijan stand out.
In exports, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Munitions and Missile Systems, Land Vehicles, naval platforms of various sizes, Turbojet/Turbopropeller, Aircraft Parts, Shotguns, Barrel Guns and Gun Towers, and Military Helicopters left their mark in 2022.
